On Monday March 2, 2020 at approximately 1515 hours box alarm 10-08 was struck for reported smoke coming from a house in the 13200 blk Catoctin Furnace Rd. A citizen driving by noticed the smoke and dialed 911.
At 1522 first arriving Amublance 307 (Thurmont Community Ambulance) arrived on scene to find a two story single family home with fire showing on the Bravo side of the structure.Engine 102 arrived a few moments later and requested that the Rapid Intervention Dispatch and the Tanker Task Force be dispatched due to this being a non-hydranted area. Engine 102s crew stretched a 1 3/4 line to the front door of the residence and began an aggressive interior attack on the fire. The crew also performed a Primary Search of the residence which proved to be negative. No one was there to meet the responders when they arrived. It was determined that the residents were not home at the time of the fire. At 1530 hours the fire was knocked and crews were checking the walls for extension. At 1548 hours the fire was determined to be completely out and units were conducting overhaul and returned to service a short time later.
